The Team

The Forest Sector Transformation Branch is a collaborative team focused on shaping the future of BC’s forest sector through innovative policy and economic development initiatives. As part of a team of four within a branch of approximately 20 professionals, you will work with foresters, economists, and policy experts to support sustainable growth, strengthen communities, and advance the forest sector across the province.

The Role

As a Senior Policy Analyst, Forest Sector Economic Strategy & Transformation, you will lead the research, analysis, and development of policies, legislation, and investment initiatives that support the long-term success of BC’s forest sector. Working collaboratively with partners across government, industry, First Nations and communities, you will provide strategic expertise, partnership development, and guidance to improve conditions for business growth, investment attraction, and new provincial revenues. Working with federal partners, industry, First Nations, and provincial agencies, you will help reduce barriers and advance economic opportunities. Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

• Master’s degree in public administration, business administration, economics, social sciences, or a field related to the program area and 2 years of related experience; OR
• Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, finance, entrepreneurship, social sciences, or a field related to the program area and 4 years of related experience;
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Related experience includes the following, in the last 10 years:

• Experience in the development of legislation, regulation, and/or policy.
• Experience in planning and coordinating complex projects/assignments.
• Experience assessing the economic impacts of policies, investments, and/or business decisions.

​​​Preference may be given to candidates with:

• Working relationships with relevant partners such as First Nations, industry, industry associations.
• Experience in a business / entrepreneurially-focused capacity.
• Experience conducting business analysis.
• Experience with forest sector manufacturing and investment.

About this Position:
This position can be based in a Natural Resource Sector office. The locations listed above are to assist applicants in searching for this opportunity and are not a complete list of locations.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 2 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
