The Team
As part of the Policy and Intergovernmental Relations Division, you will have the unique opportunity to contribute to the work of both the Fiscal Partnerships Team and the Policy and Intergovernmental Relations Team. Working across these interconnected areas, you will support strategic priorities that advance reconciliation, strengthen relationships with Indigenous Peoples and governments, and inform decision-making through fiscal, policy, and intergovernmental initiatives. This role offers broad exposure to divisional priorities and provides opportunities to collaborate with colleagues across the division, ministry executive offices, central agencies, and external partners. It is an exciting opportunity to contribute to meaningful work in a dynamic, collaborative environment while gaining insight into multiple facets of the division's mandate.

The Role
The Policy Analyst undertakes advanced research and analysis and leads projects to support decision-making and policy development on issues related to the achievement of reconciliation with Indigenous peoples. The Policy Analyst works independently to manage assigned projects focused on strategic reconciliation policy priorities, in particular to support ongoing implementation of the UN Declaration and the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (Declaration Act). The role must also develop strategic responses and recommendations for senior staff and Executive in relation to these priorities. The role involves engagement with staff across the ministry, line agencies, local governments, the federal government and with Indigenous partners, including direct engagement with First Nations and with Indigenous organizations.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in natural resource management, law, business administration, public administration, Indigenous studies, social sciences or equivalent education, and two (2) years of related experience.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.


Related experience must include all of the following:

  • Experience researching policy issues and conducting policy analysis.
  • Experience managing projects and/or project components.
  • Experience working in coordination/collaboration with other teams to complete tasks.


Preference may be given to applicants with the following:

  • Applicants who self-identify as Indigenous.
  • Experience working with Indigenous organizations or communities.
  • Experience working with First Nations and/or Indigenous people.
  • Experience with financial management and/or data analysis.

About this Position:
