The Team
The Quesnel Fire Zone is an established and diverse team that works together to support wildfire prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery efforts across British Columbia. As an Asset Management Assistant, you will collaborate with office and field staff and contribute to meaningful work that helps protect communities, while being part of an inclusive and supportive team environment.
The Role
As an Asset Management Assistant, you will help coordinate asset, fleet, and facilities management activities that support wildfire operations across the Fire Centre. This role offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, team-focused environment where your contributions help support wildfire prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery efforts, making a meaningful difference for communities throughout the Cariboo Region.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Grade 12 graduation or equivalent.
- Valid Class 5 drivers licence.
Preference may be given to candidates with:
- Experience and knowledge of heavy equipment and basic wildland firefighting equipment.
- Completed training in contract and procurement management.
- Demonstrated experience in the following: facilities, property or vehicle fleet management.
- Certifications in ORV (ATV/UTV) operation.
- Certification in forklift operation.
- Experience with and ability to lift, carry, and load fire equipment, including fire pumps and hose, in to and out of vehicles and on to and off warehouse shelving.

- To be flexible regarding ongoing changes in responsibilities, assignments and corporate structures.
- To keep current on emerging issues.
- To take in-house training and certification as required.
- To fly in aircraft (fixed wing and rotary) as required.
- To work extended hours, including weekends, and be on standby with limited notice in accordance with the preparedness plan.
- To travel and overnight in remote locations where accommodations may vary as required.
- To participate in ICS positions as assigned.
- To work under adverse or stressful conditions, including smoke, extreme heat and mountainous terrain in remote and isolated conditions.

This is a temporary opportunity until September 29, 2028. This position may be extended or become permanent.
This position requires full-time, in-person work at one of the physical locations listed.
