The Team
The Financial Services & Quality Assurance Unit is part of the Corporate Operations Support Branch within the Ministry of Children and Family Development. It is an established financial services team that provides leadership and guidance on daily financial operations, helping optimize the use of financial and corporate resources and support quality services across the Ministry. The team is made up of Financial Services Team Leaders, Senior Financial Officers and Managers, and Financial Clerks, working together to support client service delivery offices as well as provincial office divisions and branches.
The Role
The Financial Services Analyst provides operational and change leadership, financial analysis, and performance management support within the Financial Services Team and the broader Financial Services & Quality Assurance Team. The role supports the planning, coordination, and delivery of training on financial policies and procedures, while providing guidance to staff across the Ministry. The position also provides analytical support by monitoring the integrity of financial information, internal controls, and performance reporting, helping ensure effective financial operations and informed decision-making.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Completion of secondary school (Grade 12) or equivalent.
- Four years clerical/administrative support experience.
- Two years of experience in and Accounting Operations environment including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and other core accounting functions.
- Experience using computerized systems and software such as internet-based applications and financial applications.
- Intermediate experience with Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Word and Outlook.
- A combination of experience, education and/or training may be considered.
- Valid class 5 driver’s licence.
Preferences may be given to applicants who have:
- Experience with project management in a leadership or support role.
- Experience delivering training programs and seminars on financial policy and accounting operations.
- One or more years of analytical reporting or reconciliation experience.
- One or more years of experience working with CAS Oracle.
- Completed post-secondary courses in accounting or related financial services.

About this Position:
Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work from home up to 4 days a week subject to an approved telework agreement after training/ probation.
This position can be based out of any of the location(s) listed above.
