The Team
The Export Services team is part of the International Trade and Investment Attraction Division (ITIA) within the Ministry of Jobs and Economic Growth. This established team works at the forefront of supporting British Columbia's exporters by delivering programs, services, and strategic initiatives that help businesses expand into international markets, attract investment, and strengthen global trade relationships. Working closely with industry partners, exporters, federal and provincial government agencies, Indigenous communities, and B.C.'s international trade network, the team plays a key role in advancing the Province's trade diversification goals. The work of this team directly contributes to economic growth, job creation, and increased opportunities for businesses and communities throughout the province.
The Role
As Director, Export Services, you will lead the development and delivery of strategic initiatives that strengthen B.C.'s export capacity and support the Province's trade, investment, and economic development objectives. You will provide leadership to a team responsible for helping B.C. companies access international markets through export advisory services, programs, and partnerships that support business growth and competitiveness. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the future of B.C.'s export ecosystem by advancing key programs such as Export Navigator, the Trade Accelerator Program, and other export readiness initiatives. The role offers the chance to collaborate with senior leaders, industry stakeholders, and international partners while making a meaningful impact on economic growth, investment attraction, and family-supporting jobs across the province.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience

University degree and a minimum of four (4) years of recent, related, senior level experience.

Four (4) years *recent, related, senior level experience must include:
-
Experience leading the development and delivery of export readiness, export development, trade promotion, or international business development programs, services, or initiatives for businesses.

Experience leading and managing teams of professional staff and contractors.
-
Experience managing budgets, contracts, funding agreements, and financial resources.
-
Experience establishing and managing strategic partnerships and agreements with government, industry, and service delivery partners.
-
Experience providing strategic advice to senior executives and government officials on complex issues.
-
Experience working directly with businesses to support export readiness, development and growth in international markets.

Preference may be given to candidates with one or more of the following:
-
Experience beyond the minimum years required for the position.
-
Experience working with exporters in the agriculture, agri-food, food and beverage, or value-added food processing sectors.
-
Experience working in international trade development or investment attraction agencies.
-
Experience working for or with the federal government.

About this Position:
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work from home a few days a week subject to an approved telework agreement.
