Description
The Team
The Climate Solutions Division (CSD), as a division of the Ministry of Energy and Climate Solutions is responsible for leading and coordinating research, analysis, development and implementation of programs, strategies, policies, and legislation, that enable the mitigation of, and adaptation to, climate change, while supporting competitiveness and the development of a sustainable economy.
The Clean Growth Branch within CSD is responsible for policy development, engagement and research/analytical projects related to industrial greenhouse gas emissions in B.C. and is focused on developing, supporting, implementing, reviewing and improving industrial climate policy and/or programs. The Clean Growth Branch is responsible for the implementation and administration of the Greenhouse Gas Industrial Reporting and Control Act (GGIRCA) and the industrial pathway in the CleanBC Roadmap to 2030, including the implementation and management of the CleanBC Program for Industry, the development and implementation of new requirements for industrial operations to achieve net zero emissions by 2050, and aiming to eliminate industrial sources of methane by 2035.
The Role
This role provides senior leadership in developing and implementing legislation, policies, and programs, while setting performance standards. This is a fast-paced role with a demanding workload, ideal for someone with the skills to thrive in a busy environment. It offers strategic guidance to staff and, leads complex, sensitive initiatives, and manages key partnerships and negotiations across government and external partners.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in public administration, business administration, social sciences or a relevant discipline and a minimum of 5 years of *related experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.
Related experience must include each of the following:
- Experience at a senior level leading major projects of large scale and complexity that have multiple project delivery components.
- Experience establishing collaborative relationships with senior leaders and executives in support of corporate and/or corporate mandated goals.
- Experience establishing and reconciling program and project objectives, priorities, and budgets.
- Experience leading teams and working with legislation.
Preference may be given to applicants with:
- At least 1 year experience with industrial climate policy and/or carbon pricing approaches
- A master’s degree

About this Position:
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 5 or more days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
