The Team
As a member of the Domestic Intergovernmental Relations team at the Intergovernmental Relations Secretariat, you'll join a small, established group that plays a big role in advancing B.C.’s priorities through collaboration with other governments across Canada. Our team works closely with colleagues across the B.C. public service and intergovernmental partners to support Premier-level engagement on issues that matter to British Columbians. The Manager, Intergovernmental Relations provides strategic advice and recommendations that help advance B.C.’s interests while promoting strong, collaborative relationships across Canada. Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Degree(s) in a relevant area of study such as, but not limited to, Public or Business Administration, Political Science, International Relations, Economics, or law (or equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered). 
  • At least one year of experience in supporting intergovernmental relations with the Canadian federal government, provincial government(s), or territorial government(s). This should include building and maintaining long-term relationships with specific individuals in other governments for the purpose of advancing policy and program objectives and serving as B.C.’s representative in intergovernmental meetings.
  • At least two years’ experience providing expertise and advice to senior management on intergovernmental policy.
  • At least three years’ experience conducting or leading research, analyzing quantitative and/or qualitative information, examining policies, legislation or regulations and generating options and recommendations on intergovernmental matters. 
  • At least three years’ experience preparing concise and accurate briefing notes, submission documents, background material, reports and correspondence on a variety of issues.
  • At least three years’ experience in teams involved in the development of policy
     

Preference

  • Preference may be given to candidates with supervisory experience.

About this Position:
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 2 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
This is for one 12-month temporary opportunity based in Victoria. This position may be extended or become permanent.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
A Criminal Record Check (CRC) will be required.
This position is excluded from union membership.
