The Team
The Collection Services Section (CSS) is an established team within the Ministry of Finance that helps individuals and businesses resolve outstanding provincial tax debt through education, support, and collection activities. Working closely with partners across the Revenue Division, the team manages a variety of account services, including payment arrangements, refunds, account adjustments, and enforcement actions. CSS consists of approximately 40 employees, including Collection Analysts, Senior Collection Analysts, Supervisors, and a Manager. The team is known for its supportive and collaborative culture and plays an important role in generating revenue that helps fund public services across British Columbia. CSS is also recognized as an exceptional workplace, having received multiple BC Public Service awards, including Top Work Unit Awards and recognition as one of the Best Places to Work in the BC Public Service.
The Role
As a Senior Collection Analyst, you will play a key role in helping the Province recover outstanding tax revenue that supports public services across British Columbia. You will resolve complex tax accounts, provide technical expertise and guidance to staff, authorize account adjustments and refunds, and help coordinate the day-to-day priorities and workload of Collection Analysts. This role offers the opportunity to strengthen your leadership skills through mentoring, coaching, and supporting a high-performing team. As a senior member of the team, you will serve as a trusted resource and positive role model, helping to foster a collaborative and supportive work environment.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Secondary school graduation or equivalent.
- Minimum four (4) years of experience in a client service environment.
- Minimum two (2) years of experience performing complex financial adjustments in a debt collection/accounts receivable multi-portfolio environment.
- Minimum two (2) years of experience working with relevant provincial/federal statutes, legislation, regulations and/or policies relating to debt collection and interpreting financial information.

About this Position:
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to five (5) days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and/or permanent vacancies.
