The Team 

The Audit & Compliance (APT) and Property Transfer Tax Compliance (PTT) teams are dynamic, high‑impact units within the BC Public Service, each contributing millions of dollars in annual revenue that support essential public services and civic projects across the province. APT consists of four audit and compliance teams focused on reviewing annual SVT declarations to confirm eligibility for tax exemptions, while PTT is made up of three teams dedicated to supporting taxpayers and ensuring property transfer tax is administered fairly and equitably. Both areas include a mix of established and newly formed teams, offering opportunities to work alongside Compliance Analysts, Audit Analysts, Auditors, Compliance Supervisors, Policy Analysts, and a Programs Team. The Role

As an Audit Analyst, you play a key role in protecting and generating provincial revenue by conducting audits, analyzing complex information, and reporting findings to ensure compliance with property taxation acts, regulations, and policies. Your work directly supports fair and consistent tax administration for citizens and clients across British Columbia. Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

Education:

  • Degree in business administration, commerce, public administration, accounting or financial management; OR
  • Completion of a professional accounting designation (CPA, CA, CGA, or CMA); OR
  • Enrolled or fully eligible for enrollment in the CPA Professional Education Program; OR
  • Diploma or a minimum of a completion of the first two years of a degree in business administration, commerce, public administration, accounting or financial management; OR
  • Minimum of Level 2 of the BC Public Service Financial Management Certificate Program.
  • A combination of education and experience may be considered.

Experience:

  • Minimum of one (1) year of audit experience. Preference may be given for more years of experience.
  • One year (1) recent experience interpreting and applying complex legislation.

Preference may be given for:

  • Experience working in a tax administration environment.
  • Experience with GenTax.

There are a total of ten (10) positions available, including opportunities within both the Property Transfer Tax team and the Annual Property Tax team.
