Description

The Team
The Northeast Geospatial team is a small, established and collaborative team that supports a range of teams across the Northeast, including First Nations Relations, Tenures and Range. You’ll work closely with a fellow STO21 and technical teams, sharing knowledge and communicating respectfully to help colleagues and partners understand complex spatial information and support informed decisions.

The Role
In this role, you’ll provide geospatial services to Northeast service lines, work with geospatial service providers across the province, and support strategic initiatives. Your work will provide important information for permitting and understanding cumulative impacts, while offering opportunities to take on varied and meaningful work, build your skills, and grow your knowledge in a supportive and respectful environment.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in GIS, coursework in natural resource management and one (1) year of related experience; OR
  • Diploma in GIS, coursework in natural resource management and three (3) years related experience; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Related experience includes all of the following:

  • Experience designing and developing customized spatial applications and preparing recommendations based on natural resource interpretations.
  • Experience delivering spatial analysis projects in support of client’s business needs. 

Preference may be given to candidates with the following:

  • Experience providing support to Range, Stewardship and Tenures business lines.
  • Experience providing spatial analysis to geographically dispersed teams.

About this Position:
This position can be based in any Ministry of Forests office. The locations listed above are to assist applicants in searching for this opportunity and are not a complete list of locations.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 5 more days a week at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
