Description
The Team
The Employer Training Unit Team is part of the Labour Market Development & Immigration division within the Ministry of Post-Secondary Education and Future Skills. The team works in a high application processing environment to deliver the B.C. Employer Training Grant program. The program helps employers pay for training of their current or new employees and helps employers respond to their changing labour needs, invest in training for an adaptive and competitive workforce and supports employees across B.C. to gain needed job skills. .
The Role
In this leadership role, you will supervise and guide 8 adjudicators and 2 financial clerks through complex, independent decision-making and help ensure decisions are fair, consistent and aligned with eligibility criteria and program policies. You will support a respectful and inclusive workplace by coaching staff, responding to changing service needs and using diverse perspectives to strengthen programs, policies and service delivery. You will also provide advice on sensitive issues, prepare briefings for executive leadership and identify opportunities to improve processes and outcomes for the people and communities served.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Diploma related to law, public or business administration or another related field; OR
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience (within the last 5 years) managing and supervising a team.
- Experience coaching, managing performance and mentoring a team.
- Experience developing, implementing and/or facilitating training for staff.
- Experience reviewing and analyzing complex multi-faceted issues.
Preference may be given to applicants with:
- Experience in leading a team in an application-based program.
