Description

The Team
The Revenue Sharing Policy team, part of the Fiscal Partnerships Branch, provides strategic policy leadership and program oversight for provincial revenue-sharing initiatives that support strong partnerships with First Nations. This established team of approximately six professionals works collaboratively with regional teams, partner ministries, central agencies, legal and financial experts, and First Nations to negotiate and implement agreements that advance reconciliation, support sound fiscal management, and contribute to positive social, economic, and community outcomes across British Columbia.

The Role
As a Negotiator, you will lead and coordinate the negotiation, renewal, implementation, and oversight of key revenue-sharing agreements and related policy initiatives, while providing strategic advice on program delivery, fiscal management, and agreement development. This dynamic leadership opportunity combines negotiation, policy, program management, and financial oversight and offers the chance to build trusted relationships with First Nations and government partners, resolve complex issues, and contribute directly to meaningful economic outcomes and government-to-government relationships. The position is well suited to a collaborative and strategic leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment, supervises staff, and is motivated by work that advances reconciliation and delivers tangible benefits to communities throughout the province.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • University degree in a relevant field and experience in negotiations, policy, or program management; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience leading negotiations and multi-partner engagement processes. Experience managing programs, financial processes, and complex projects.
  • Experience working with Indigenous organizations and communities.
  • Experience in multi-party negotiations in a cross-cultural setting.
  • Experience providing strategic advice to senior government officials (or private sector equivalent) on project/negotiations status.


Preference may be given to applicants with the following:

  • Individuals who identify as Indigenous.
  • Experience working with Indigenous organizations and/or communities.


Provisos

  • Minor travel expectations to various locations in the province.
  • Must have a valid Class 5 BC driver’s license and be legally able to rent a vehicle in British Columbia.
