The Team
The Cariboo First Nations Relations Advisors team is a well-established, collaborative group that works within a Cariboo Hub model, consisting of 4 to 6 Advisors who support one another through teamwork and cooperation. In this role, you will work closely with colleagues, Tenures and Range staff, and directly with First Nations communities to advance meaningful consultation and reconciliation efforts on behalf of the Crown. This is a rewarding opportunity to contribute to impactful work that helps build and strengthen relationships with First Nations across the region.
The Role
To review proposals for the use of natural resources on Crown Land and determine the impact on First Nations’ identified or potential traditional use areas. The First Nations Consultant plans and leads the facilitation of the First Nations consultation process and ensures legal obligations have been met. This position is a recommending authority on whether proposed work should proceed.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
• Degree related to the natural resource sector (e.g., forestry, resource management, agrology, environmental science) OR
• A combination of education and/or experience may be considered.
• Experience conducting research and analysis related to land use, resource management, social or economic development issues.
Preference may be given to applicants with:
• Experience working with First Nations communities and facilitating First Nations consultations.

About this Position:
This position can be based in any of the following Ministry of Forests offices: 100 Mile House, Quesnel, Williams Lake.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work from home up to 2 days a week subject to an approved telework agreement.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future permanent and/or temporary vacancies across the Ministry of Forests
