The Team
The Disaster Financial Assistance (DFA) Team helps people, businesses, organizations, and communities recover after disasters. Our team reviews applications for financial assistance and makes sure funding is provided fairly and consistently following legislation and policy. We are a supportive and collaborative group that works together to solve complex problems and help British Columbians when they need it most.
The Role
As an Adjudication Analyst, you will review applications for disaster financial assistance and determine whether applicants qualify for funding. You will gather and assess information, investigate complex situations, and apply legislation and policy to make fair and well-supported decisions. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys problem-solving, critical thinking, and meaningful work that helps people and communities recover after disasters.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Diploma in business administration, public administration, commerce, economics, law, emergency management or a related discipline, AND one (1) year of related experience*; OR
- Certificate in business administration, public administration, commerce, economics, law, emergency management or a related discipline, AND two (2) years of related experience*; OR
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
*Related experience must include all of the following:
- Experience providing advice and guidance to the public and other interest holders on program administration.
- Experience reviewing documents or applications for completeness and making recommendations for approval.
- Experience interpreting and applying legislation, regulations and/or policies.
- Experience developing and implementing operational materials (e.g., policy, procedure, practices).
Preference may be given to applicants who have any of the following:
- Experience working with and engaging with First Nations communities and/or organizations.
- Experience working with Emergency Recovery programs.
- Experience working with private sector entities (e.g., homeowners, tenants, small businesses, farms, charity organizations) or governments to assess technical information, determine eligibility and process payments.

About this Position:
This is a temporary opportunity until June 18, 2027. This position may be extended or become permanent.
Remote work is allowed, this position can work up to full time from their home in British Columbia subject to an approved telework agreement. The locations listed above are to assist applicants in searching for this opportunity and are not a complete list of locations.
