The Team
Project Leads are an integral part of the Major Mines Office, working within a dynamic and highly skilled team of 15 dedicated professionals who excel at collaboration, coordination, and problem-solving. Passionate about advancing British Columbia's most significant mining projects, the team expertly guides complex major mine applications through a structured and rigorous regulatory process.  Working at the center of high-profile, provincially important projects, Project Leads collaborate closely with technical experts across the Major Mines Office, as well as with other provincial agencies, industry proponents, and First Nations. Through strong relationships, strategic coordination, and a commitment to excellence, the team helps bring some of BC's most impactful resource development projects from application to decision, creating meaningful outcomes for communities, industry, and the province as a whole. 

The Role
As a Project Lead, you will be at the center of some of the province's most significant major mining projects, leading the coordination of complex applications through the regulatory process. You'll work closely with internal experts, external stakeholders, and First Nations partners to navigate challenges, solve problems, and keep projects moving forward.  Although the work is dynamic and often time sensitive, you'll be backed by a highly experienced and supportive team that is always willing to share knowledge and lend a hand. Strong, established processes provide a solid foundation for success, while long-standing relationships with proponents and First Nations create opportunities for meaningful engagement, collaboration, and trust-building. This role offers a unique chance to make a tangible impact on projects that shape communities and the future of responsible resource development.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

•    Bachelor’s Degree in a related field (e.g., mining, forestry, natural resource management), or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
•    Seven (7) or more years of current and related experience in:

• Land allocation, and/or,
• Integrated Land Use Planning, and/or,
• Resource management planning in one or more of the following areas: forestry, tourism, mining, energy, ecosystem conservation, parks and public recreation, land management, or resource allocation.

•    Experience managing multiple projects or leading a component (e.g., sub-project) of a major project.
•    Experience managing relationships with senior level partners and stakeholders and leading engagement and consultation sessions.
•    Experience in coordinating work for other professional employees, and/or consultants. 
•    Experience in conflict resolution. 
•    Experience in budget management procurement.

Professional Registration and Certification Requirements:
•    Registered, or immediately eligible for registration, as a Registered Professional Forester (RPF) with Forest Professionals BC (FPBC), Registered Professional Agrologist (PAg) with the BC Institute of Agrologists (BCIA), Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or Registered Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo.) with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC). Note: “Immediately eligible for registration” means meeting all requirements for full professional registration and completing the process of obtaining full registration with the relevant BC professional association within six (6) months of employment.

Preference may be given to those with one (1) or both of the following:
•    Project Management Professional (PMP) designation, or who are qualified to achieve the PMP designation within six (6) months of employment (note: qualifications are three (3) years of project management experience plus 35 hours of classroom instruction).
•    Experience in mining.
