The Team
The Cariboo‑Chilcotin Natural Resource District (DCC) Tenures Program is a well‑established, highly collaborative team that supports authorizations across a broad suite of cutting and road authorities. The team works directly with Licensees and proponents to effectively permit an evolving range of salvage, rehabilitative, and restoration projects. Team members collaborate closely with other district programs—including First Nation Relations, Range, Stewardship, Engineering, and Land and Resources—creating a dynamic, supportive, and team‑oriented environment. This small but growing group brings significant experience from both government and industry, and plays a central role in driving the local economy, supporting employment, advancing provincial objectives, and delivering more salvage and rehabilitative projects than arguably anywhere else in the province. The team is known for being tight‑knit, supportive, and genuinely good people who make the work both meaningful and enjoyable.

The Role
This position focuses on permitting and authorizations, which form the core function of the Tenures Program and directly support the district’s operational effectiveness. The work has substantial impact on employment, the local economy, and the district’s ongoing rehabilitation and restoration efforts. Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in the natural resource field or equivalent as recognized by FPBC.
• Related experience working in natural resource management.
• Experience in consulting with partners in natural resource management.
• A combination of education and work experience may be considered.

Professional Registration and Certification Requirements:

• Registered, or immediately eligible for registration, as a Registered Professional Forester (RPF) in BC with Forest Professionals BC (FPBC). Note: “Immediately eligible for registration” means meeting all requirements for full professional registration and completing the process of obtaining full registration with the relevant BC professional association within six (6) months of employment. 
  • Applicants currently registered, or eligible for registration within six (6) months of employment, with FPBC as an Allied Science Forester in Training (ASFIT) or Forester in Training (FIT), may be considered for this position at the Licensed Science Officer 1A level.

About this Position:
This position can be based in any of the following Ministry of Forests offices: Williams Lake and Alexis Creek.

Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work 2 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.

Applicants who do not fully meet the required qualifications may be considered for this position, but at a lower classification.

An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies
