The Team
The Regional Operations Division - North Area is an established and collaborative team dedicated to maintaining safe and reliable road access across the Peace and Fort Nelson Natural Resource Districts. While this role works independently much of the time, it partners closely with engineering, stewardship, administration, revenue, and district leadership teams across the region and province to support resource roads, bridges, permits, and public safety. The Role
As an Engineering Officer, you will lead the district’s engineering program and help ensure safe, reliable access to communities, rural residences, recreation sites, and natural resource areas through the management of resource roads and permits. Working collaboratively with First Nations, industry partners, government ministries, and local stakeholders, you will provide professional advice, oversee budgets and projects, and support regulatory compliance while advancing inclusive and sustainable land and resource management. Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements:

  • A Degree or Diploma in Forest Engineering, Forest Management or equivalent related field and three (3) years of experience in road, bridge and major structures design, construction and maintenance; or,
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience (such as five (5) years of experience in road, bridge and major structures design, construction and maintenance) may be considered.
  • Experience in contract and/or project management.
  • Experience in managing complex road and/or bridge construction projects.
  • Must possess at minimum a valid BC Class 5 Driver’s Licence that does not limit or restrict the ability to conduct the duties of the job.

Professional Registration and Certification Requirements:

  • Registered, or immediately eligible for registration, as a Registered Forest Technologist (RFT) or related designation with Forest Professionals BC (FPBC). Note: “Immediately eligible for registration” means meeting all requirements for full professional registration and completing the process of obtaining full registration with the relevant BC professional association within six (6) months of employment.

Preference may be given to those with:

  • Experience supervising staff; and/or
  • Budget management and/or financial administration experience.

Provisos:

  • Must be willing and able to withstand occasional fieldwork.
  • Must be willing and able to work in adverse weather conditions.
  • Must be willing and able to travel to meet job requirements.
  • Must be willing and able to travel in fixed and/or rotary winged aircraft and/or watercraft.

About this Position:
There is currently one (1) permanent, full time position available.
This position can be located in Dawson Creek, Fort Saint John, or Prince George.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to two (2) days at home per week subject to an approved Telework Agreement.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies in the above locations.
