JOB OVERVIEW

The Ministry of Children and Family Development provides critical services and supports to British Columbia’s vulnerable children and youth, and to their families, contributing to their safety, well-being and sense of belonging. In carrying out this work, MCFD also upholds and advances the inherent right to Indigenous self-determination over child and family services. The Indigenous Fiscal Policy and Agreements (IFPA) Branch plays a key role in advancing reconciliation with Indigenous peoples in British Columbia. The branch is responsible for the development of ministry fiscal policy to support Indigenous self-determination over child and family services, including the exercise of jurisdiction. IFPA supports Indigenous Child and Family Agencies (ICFSA), Indigenous Governing Bodies (IGB), and Indigenous communities by calculation, overseeing and distributing funding pursuant to agreements.

The Contract Administrator supports financial and administrative processes associated with agreements supporting indigenous led child and family services and grants to Indigenous communities.   The position manages the flow of agreement documentation, financial transactions, and payment processing using established ministry systems and processes; coordinates the collection of reports; maintains document filing systems; vendor administration and correspondence.   Works closely with staff to ensure compliance with legislation, financial controls, procurement and ministry policies and processes.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Secondary school graduation or equivalent.
  • Completion of training in contract and procurement management.
  • Experience in contract administration in a public sector environment.
  • Successful completion of security screening requirements of the BC Public Service, which may include a criminal records check, and/or Criminal Records Review Act (CRRA) check, and/or enhanced security screening checks as required by the ministry (Note:  It is important that you read the job posting carefully to understand the specific security screening requirements pertaining to the position).  

Preference may be given to applicants with the following:  

  • One (1) year or more of contract administration experience in a public sector environment. 
  • One (1) year or more of experience working effectively with internal and external stakeholders: including clients, funding recipients, vendors, or service providers.  
  • Applicants who self-identify as First Nations, Métis or Inuit with the required combination of education and experience.

Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 4 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
