Description
The Team:
The Land and Resource Coordinator is an integral member of the Forest Stewardship Team. The team is responsible for the delivery of a wide range of forest management and stewardship activities including planning and coordinating reforestation, rehabilitation, and monitoring programs in the Thompson Rivers District. The seven-person team is made up of Professional Foresters and Forest Technologists with experience ranging from early career Foresters in Training to RPFs and RFTs with 20+ years of experience in government, industry and consulting. The Stewardship team works directly with other district teams such as Engineering, Authorizations, Range, and First Nations.
The Role:
The focus of the Land and Resource Coordinator position will be to support road rehabilitation projects within the district. This role will work closely with various government staff, local stakeholders, and First Nations communities throughout the planning, implementation and monitoring of these projects. Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in a natural resource management related field (e.g., Forestry, Geography, or Natural Resource Management) 2 years of related experience; OR
- A Technical Diploma or an equivalent combination of education/training plus, 3 or more years’ experience working in a natural resource discipline.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Advance training in project management.
Related Experience may include the following:
- Experience managing multiple projects or leading a component (e.g., sub-project) of a major project.
- Experience managing relationships with senior level stakeholders and leading consultation sessions.
- Experience managing relationships with First Nations senior leadership and economic development corporations.
Professional Registration and Certification Requirements
- Applicants must be registered or immediately eligible for registration with the Forest Professionals of British Columbia (FPBC) as a Registered Forest Technologist or equivalent.
- Note: "Immediately eligible for registration" means meeting all requirements for full professional registration and completing the process of obtaining full registration with the relevant BC professional association within six (6) months of employment.
Preference may be given to applicants with the following:
- Direct operational experience related to road construction and road deactivation.
- Three (3) or more years of silviculture experience.
- Two (2) more years of First Nations engagement experience.
- Familiar with travelling via helicopter, ATV or snowmobile
- Two (2) or more years of contract and project administration experience
Willingness statements or provisos
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license.
- Must be willing to work in adverse weather conditions
- Must be willing and able to conduct field work which may include travel to remote areas by vehicle, air or foot, and overnight in remote locations where accommodation may vary as required
- Must be willing to work long field days in remote locations of the Thompson Rivers District
- May be required to operate field equipment (ie. quad, snowmobile)

About this Position:
This is a temporary opportunity until March 31st,2027. This position may be extended or become permanent.
This position can be based out of any of the locations listed above.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 2 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
