The Team
As part of the Transportation Systems and Road Safety Engineering team, this role is embedded within the Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and Network Operations team, supporting technology that keeps BC's transportation network safe, connected, and efficient. Working from the Ministry's Regional Transportation Management Centre in Coquitlam, you will collaborate with a highly skilled team managing critical IT and operational technology systems, communications networks, and innovative IoT solutions that support transportation operations across the province.

The Role
This role collaborates closely with engineering teams, Connected Services BC (CSBC), and the Network Operations Lead to strengthen the security and resilience of critical transportation technology systems. Through vulnerability assessments and expert security guidance, you will help ensure innovative field technology deployments are designed and configured to meet the highest standards of cybersecurity and operational reliability.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in computer science field or equivalent and three (3) years related experience; OR
• Diploma in computer science field or equivalent and five (5) years related experience; OR
• Secondary school graduation or equivalent and seven (7) years related experience.

Related experience must include all of the following:

• Experience with the use of vulnerability discovery tools or Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) solutions.
• Experience with all aspects of IT security including current technologies and best practices.
• Experience with the installation, configuration, maintenance and problem resolution of hardware, software, operating systems, and network components.

Preference may be given to applicants with any of the following:

• Experience working with Operational Technology (OT). OT is defined as hardware and software that detects or causes a change through the direct monitoring and/or control of physical devices, processes and events in the enterprise.
• Hands-on experience with Linux administration and system scripting.
• Experience with industrial control systems security.
• Experience conducting security threat risk assessments or web application security assessments.

About this Position:
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work two (2) or more days from home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
