The Team
The Economics and Trade Branch supports British Columbia’s economic interests through work on the Softwood Lumber dispute with the United States, provincial log export policy and economic analysis that informs Ministry initiatives. The team values diverse perspectives, collaboration and inclusive approaches to complex economic and trade issues, creating an environment where people with different experiences and expertise can contribute meaningfully.

The Role
As a Research Analyst, you will conduct research and analysis to support policy development, advisory services and the evaluation of issues that impact the Ministry’s work. You will contribute to a variety of projects, including administration of the Manufactured Forest Products Regulation, survey data analysis, industry research, economic analysis and supporting B.C.’s defence in the Softwood Lumber dispute with the U.S., while bringing a collaborative and inclusive approach that values diverse perspectives and experiences.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Diploma in a discipline related to the field of research or the business area (forestry, business administration or economics), or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience conducting research and analysis of issues to support the development of policy or the evaluation of programs.
  • Experience managing diverse workloads effectively, independently and under pressure.


Preference may be given to applicants with:

  • 1 year of experience in the forest sector, and/or financial data processing or management.

Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 5 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
