Description

The Team
Estate and Personal Trust Services administers estates of deceased and missing persons according to law in the Public Guardian and Trustee of BC’s various capacities such as Administrator. In this division, the focus of the work is on support services for 22 division staff, with an emphasis on document handling and facilitating meeting legal and technical requirements.

There are 6 administrative assistants in the division who report to the administrative team leader to support the important work of the team while providing general advice and service to clients, family members, stakeholders and the general public as required.

The Role
To provide a wide range of administrative support services to the branch including receiving, reviewing and validating incoming submissions, composing correspondence and other written materials, researching and summarizing client file information, opening and distributing mail and providing general advice and service to clients, family members, stakeholders and the general public.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Secondary school graduation or equivalent (GED)
  • Experience providing customer or client service, carrying out legal, administrative and/or financial duties and responding to client needs in a professional manner in an office setting.
    • Preference may be given to candidates with 1 or more years of experience.
  • Experience/training working with Microsoft office products.
  • Experience with data entry.

  • Experience working directly or in person with vulnerable populations (e.g. vulnerable adults, persons with disabilities, children, heirs and beneficiaries and individuals with language, behavioural and/or cognitive barriers)
  • Completed Office Administration courses
  • Applicants who self‐identify as First Nations, Métis or Inuit.

About this Position:
This is a temporary/auxiliary opportunity until October 30, 2026. This position may be extended.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future short-term auxiliary vacancies, which may be extended.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work from home a few days a week subject to an approved telework agreement.
A Criminal Record Review Act Check (CRRA) and Enhanced Security Screening will be required.
Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
