The Team
The Deputy Minister’s Office (DMO) is a collaborative, high-performing team of professionals dedicated to supporting the Deputy Minister, Minister’s Office and advancing the Ministry of Forests. The DMO serves as the central coordination point for executive operations, cabinet and legislative processes, issues management, and strategic initiatives. Team members work closely with ministry executive offices, Minister’s Office, partner agencies, and central government to ensure leadership is informed, aligned, and equipped to deliver on the ministry’s goals and mandate.
The Role
As the Director, Executive Operations, you’ll lead the day-to-day delivery of services and programs within the Deputy Minister’s Office, ensuring the Deputy Minister and Minister have timely, accurate information to support decision-making. You’ll provide strategic advice, planning expertise, and oversight for priority initiatives, cross-divisional collaboration, and integrated ministry planning. You’ll manage financial and human resources, strengthen operational processes to improve accountability and results, and serve as a key link between the Deputy Minister’s Office, Minister’s Office, Cabinet Operations, executive, and ministry staff. You’ll also oversee executive support functions, special initiatives, events, and committees on behalf of the Deputy Minister.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- University degree in a related discipline, such as public policy, business administration, communications or public administration. An equivalent combination of education and related experience may be considered.
- Minimum three (3) years of experience working in an executive administrative environment.
- Experience guiding staff to work within government’s decision-making process.
- Experience leading people and managing resources.
- Experience managing a portfolio of clients in a customer service environment and resolving complex staff and/or client issues.
- Experience managing diverse workloads proactively, effectively, independently and under pressure.
- Experience dealing with highly confidential and sensitive issues.
Preference may be given to applicants with:
- Experience dealing with centralized agencies
- Experience working with political offices.

About this Position:
This position is excluded from union membership.
This position can be based in any Natural Resource Ministry office. The locations listed above are to assist applicants in searching for this opportunity and are not a complete list of locations.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to three (3) days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
