Description

The Team:
The Program Policy and Development Branch is responsible for developing strategic, innovative and evidence-informed employment programs, policies and initiatives that support provincial goals related to sustainable employment and poverty reduction. The branch is responsible for designing employment programs such as Work BC Employment Services, Assistive Technology, Apprenticeship Services, and the Community and Employer Partnerships Program. As part of this work, the branch is responsible for developing and maintaining key external and internal partnerships that are essential to policy and program development, including service providers, Indigenous organizations, and other levels of government.

The Role:
The Policy Manager for the Tariff and Economic Response Unit works collaboratively with analysts, colleagues and leadership to develop strategic, innovative and evidence-informed employment policies, programs and initiatives and service delivery instruments that respond to the employment needs of tariff impacted workers, employers and communities.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or Social Science and a minimum of three (3) years experience, OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
  • Experience leading or managing policy or program initiatives or developing recommendations for policy and program changes within a large organization or government setting.
  • Experience consulting and establishing collaborative relationships with internal and external partner groups that includes the development, implementation or review of policy or programming.
  • Working collaboratively across functional organizational units to deliver high-profile and sensitive projects.

Preference may be given to applicants:

  • With five (5) or more years of relevant experience.
  • With experience leading strategic policy and/or research teams.
  • Experience supervising staff in a unionized environment.
