The Team
The Assurance and Risk (A&R) team is an established team within the Divisional Services Branch of the Employment and Labour Market Services Division. Working in a virtual environment across British Columbia, the team conducts independent reviews of programs, operations, and management practices to assess compliance, efficiency, and the effective use of resources. The team includes one Manager, three Senior Quality Assurance Advisors, and five Quality Assurance Analysts who work together to examine issues beyond what existing systems can identify. Through this work, the team helps ensure citizens have access to fair, consistent, and effective employment services.
The Role
The Senior Quality Assurance Advisor leads quality assurance activities, supervises a small team of analysts, and provides strategic advice on complex program and operational issues. The role works closely with the Manager of Assurance and Risk and collaborates with colleagues across finance, operations, systems, analytics, and policy to support quality assurance reviews and follow-up actions. This position contributes to reliable and accountable employment services by helping improve oversight, service quality, and program outcomes for British Columbians. The role also provides an opportunity to help design and implement quality assurance and risk management frameworks for modernized employment programs launching in 2027.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Degree in law, business or public administration, accounting, audit, risk management, or related field and one (1) year of *related experience; or
- Diploma in law, business or public administration, accounting, audit, risk management, or in a related field and three (3) years of *related experience.
- Experience in analysis of complex problems and program performance.
- Experience supervising staff and/or leading a team
- *Related experience must include the following:
- Experience in investigation, program evaluation, or audit design, implementation, analysis, and reporting.
- Experience building and maintaining effective relationships with interested parties.
- Experience with issues management and strategic problem solving.
Preference may be given to candidates with the following:
- Experience with IBM Cognos software tools.
- Experience presenting recommendations to management or executive.
- Experience in performance management and financial evaluation.
