The Team

The Indigenous Partnerships and Initiatives Branch plays a key role in advancing reconciliation by building and maintaining collaborative relationships with First Nations, Métis, Inuit, and urban Indigenous partners throughout British Columbia. As a new and growing branch within the Ministry of Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation, the team leads the provincial response to Residential School investigations and works with Indigenous communities, organizations, and government partners to support research, protection, commemoration, and other initiatives that help advance understanding, healing, and reconciliation.

The Role

The Branch Administrative Coordinator provides essential operational and administrative support that helps the branch function effectively and achieve its priorities. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly organized and service-oriented professional to work closely with branch leadership, support meaningful reconciliation initiatives, and contribute to work that has a lasting impact on Indigenous communities, government relationships, and the future of reconciliation in British Columbia.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Secondary school graduation or equivalent.
  • 1 year experience providing administrative and financial support services for a group of staff.
  • Office experience working in a confidential capacity.
  • Experience with standard office procedures, administrative practices, and records management systems.
  • Proficiency in common office software applications (e.g., Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel) and ability to learn new systems quickly.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize competing tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Experience maintaining filing systems, databases, or financial records, including tracking expenditures or processing basic financial transactions (e.g., invoices, expense claims).


Preference may be given to candidates with one or more of the following: 

  • Experience working with Indigenous organizations and/or communities.
  • Candidates who self-identify as Indigenous.
  • Experience working with records management system ARCS/ORCS.

About this Position:
One permanent position is available in Victoria.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 3 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and/or permanent vacancies.
A Criminal Record Check (CRC) will be required.
