Description
The Team
The Procurement Services and Projects Team manages the Ministry’s procurement initiatives and provides leadership, support, and advice on procurement-related special projects, with a focus on sourcing social and professional services. Within the team, the Special Projects and Advisory Team is a small, specialized group responsible for managing large or complex procurement projects on behalf of program area clients, including transformational initiatives and projects requiring long-term structural support or strategic integration. The team works to ensure procurement and contracting approaches improve service to clients, align with BC Government Core Policy, recognize structural and cost considerations, and support the effective use of resources.
The Role
The Procurement and Contract Specialist is responsible for managing the Ministry’s procurement life cycle for a variety of procurement and contracting opportunities, ranging from simple to highly complex. The role leads procurement projects that may be high-profile, high-risk, high-dollar-value, or politically sensitive, providing expertise and advice to program area clients throughout the procurement process. The Specialist ensures procurement activities are appropriately designed, coordinated, and executed while supporting effective contracting approaches and strong outcomes for the Ministry and the communities it serves.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Degree, diploma, designation (i.e. CPPB, CPPO, SCMP, PMP, etc.) or equivalent in a related field (i.e. procurement and contract management, project management, business administration, commerce, risk management or law).
- Three (3) years or more of experience in the full procurement life cycle.
- Two (2) years or more of experience leading or facilitating projects for diverse client groups.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Preference may be given to applicants for any of the following:
- Two (2) years or more of experience analyzing complex issues, evaluating options and recommending solutions.
- Five (5) years or more of experience in the full procurement life cycle.
- One (1) year or more of experience with public sector procurement.
- One (1) year or more of experience within the social services sector.
- Experience with contract and/or financial management.

About this Position:
Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work from home up to 4 days a week subject to an approved telework agreement.
This position can be based out of any of the location(s) listed above.
This is a temporary/auxiliary opportunity until April 28, 2028. This position may be extended or become permanent.
