Description
The Team
The Workforce, Accountability and Governance Division supports key areas of the K-12 and child care sectors in British Columbia. The team oversees legislative and regulatory frameworks, professional standards, and licensing and certification for teachers and early childhood educators. It also leads accountability work in the K-12 system, supports recruitment and retention initiatives, and provides support for collective bargaining activities. Staff work closely with partners across government and the education sector to support effective programs and services.
The Role
Reporting to an Assistant Deputy Minister (ADM), this position provides executive administrative and secretarial support in a fast-paced office environment. The role manages the ADM’s calendar, coordinates meetings and travel, prepares briefing and meeting materials, and handles correspondence and records management. The position also tracks priorities and deadlines, supports budget administration, and helps ensure information is organized and available for decision-making. Success in this role requires strong organizational skills, sound judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Certificate in office administration or business administration and 1-year related experience; OR
- Secondary School graduation (Dogwood, GED) and 2 years related experience; OR
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Related experience includes all of the following criteria:
- Office experience working in a confidential capacity.
- Experience supporting a senior executive (Executive Directors, Assistant Deputy Minister’s, or equivalent BC Public Service role), including calendar management, scheduling meetings, and making travel arrangements.
- Experience formatting, proofreading, and editing a variety of documents, such as briefing materials, reports, and/or presentations.
- Experience with Microsoft Office products (such as Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Experience using virtual collaboration tools such as OneNote, Teams.
Preference may be given to applicants with:
- Experience in CLIFF, eApprovals and/or iExpense.

About this Position:
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work from home a few days a week subject to an approved telework agreement.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
