Description

The Team
The Equity Practice and Research branch advances equity, anti-racism and inclusive practices across digital services and policy through research, guidance and implementation support aligned with the Anti-Racism Data Act (ARDA). The branch is responsible for:

  • ARDA implementation, including data standards & directives, release of statistics, research priorities
  • Supporting and leading research and data projects on systemic barriers and inequities
  • Equity and anti-racism guidance for policy and service delivery
  • The Data Innovation Program
  • Inclusive and accessible service delivery guidelines and frameworks
  • Guidance and direction on web standards for improved government service delivery

The Role
As a Researcher, you will lead the development and delivery of equity-focused data projects (e.g., research, data collection, evaluation and reporting) independently and in collaboration with ministry and community partners. You will support all data initiatives under ARDA and be involved in communicating research findings internally and publicly, as well as gathering and applying feedback from colleagues, executives, community partners, Indigenous Peoples, and the Anti-Racism Data Committee. You will provide cross-government capacity building and advice on how to collect and use data safely and in line with government’s process commitments to Indigenous data sovereignty, intersectionality, transparency, and community involvement.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in health or social sciences, economics, statistics, or a related research field and 2 years’ *related experience; OR
  • Diploma in health or social sciences, economics, statistics, or a related research field and 3 years’ *related experience; OR
  • Certificate or coursework in health or social sciences, economics, statistics, mathematics, research methodologies or a related field and 4 years’ *related experience; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

*Related experience must include all of the following:

  • Experience in designing and conducting health or social research, program evaluation, or performance reporting.
  • Experience applying considerations specific to anti-racism and equity-focused data collection and use.
  • Experience using business intelligence software and tools for qualitative and statistical data analysis and reporting.

Preference may be given to applicants with one (1) or more of the following:

  • Experience in working on equity research projects or equity-focused reporting.
  • Experience in research or data project management.
  • Experience working with multiple partner organizations, such as cross-government or cross-ministry work, independent offices, committees, community organizations, and Indigenous partners.
  • Lived experience as a First Nations, Métis, Inuit or racialized person.

About this Position:
Currently there is one (1) permanent opportunity available.
