The Team
The Strategic Initiatives and Forest Landscape Planning Team plays a key role in representing the Ministry of Forests at planning tables and advancing collaborative land and resource management initiatives across the region. As part of this established and growing team, you will work alongside professionals with diverse expertise who partner with Indigenous Nations, government agencies, industry, and community interests to help create greater land-use certainty in Northeast British Columbia. The Role
As a Licensed Section Head, you will lead a team of skilled professionals who build strong relationships with First Nations and advance land use planning initiatives across Northeast British Columbia. You will set direction, support cross-agency collaboration, and represent the Ministry of Forests’ interests in planning processes that shape natural resource and cumulative effects management. Through your leadership, you will help balance conservation priorities with economic opportunities, contribute to long-term land use certainty, and support respectful, inclusive decision-making that reflects diverse perspectives and creates lasting benefits for communities, First Nations, industry, and the region.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

• Degree in the natural resource field and 4 years experience.
• Diploma in natural resource field and 5 years experience.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience.

Related Experience may include:

• Experience in negotiating and mediating solutions with partners in natural resource management.
• Comprehensive experience in regulatory management in the applicable natural resource field.
• Experience managing technical and/or professional staff in resource management.
• Experience supervising, leading coaching and mentoring staff.
• Experience preparing and presenting internal and external to a wide variety of audiences.

Professional Registration and Certification Requirements

• Registered, or immediately eligible for registration, as a fully licensed professional with the British Columbia professional association as required by the specialty area (i.e., Forest Professionals BC, Institute of Agrologists, Association of Professional Engineers & Geoscientists, etc.).

About this Position:
This position can be based in any Ministry of Forests office. The locations listed above are to assist applicants in searching for this opportunity and are not a complete list of locations.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 2 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and/or permanent vacancies.
