The Team
Established under Section 351 of the Workers Compensation Act, the Workers' Advisers Office (WAO) is a branch of the Ministry of Labour and independent of WorkSafeBC.  We provide workers and their dependents with free advice, assistance, and in some cases representation, on appeals of WorkSafeBC decisions with which they disagree. We also provide training, mentoring and advice to union and other representatives helping injured workers with their disagreements with WorkSafeBC decisions.

The Role
As the Technical Analyst with the Workers' Advisers Office (WAO), you will serve as the organization's key technical expert, ensuring staff have the technology, systems, and support they need to effectively serve workers across British Columbia. Working within a unique IT environment shared between the Ministry and WorkSafeBC, you will troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, support critical business applications, and help maintain the seamless integration of systems that enable the delivery of essential client services. Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Degree in a related field plus a minimum of 2 years related experience; OR

  • Diploma in a related field plus a minimum of 4 years related experience; OR

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
     

Related experience must include:

  • Six (6) months experience troubleshooting, testing and implementing software and hardware solutions.

  • Experience in network administration.

  • Experience in web design, development, configuration and maintenance. 

  • Experience in developing and presenting progress updates for executive leadership. 

  • Experience developing and maintaining relationships with internal and external partners.
     

Preference may be given to applicants with one or more of the following:

  • Experience with all phases of project management and change management. 

  • Experience with CMS lite.

  • Experience with SharePoint and/or Microsoft Teams.
     

Proviso/Willingness Statements:

  • Travel throughout the province is a requirement for this position.

About this Position:
This is a temporary opportunity until 04/05/2027. This position may be extended or become permanent.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and/or permanent vacancies.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work from home four (4) days a week subject to an approved telework agreement.
This position can be based out of any of the location(s) listed above.
