The Team
BCTS is committed to meaningful reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples through strong, collaborative relationships and sustainable forest management. As the Indigenous Relations Liaison, you will work with Indigenous Nations, communities, and BCTS staff to support respectful engagement, consultation, and partnership agreements. You will build relationships and support operational teams on initiatives such as operational referrals, implementation agreements, Forest Landscape Plans, Forest Stewardship Plans, and forest health projects.

The Role
The Chinook Business Area covers some of British Columbia’s most diverse landscapes, including the Lower Mainland, Sea-to-Sky Corridor, Sunshine Coast, and Haida Gwaii, with this position supporting BCTS operations in Powell River or Squamish. This is a unique opportunity to advance sustainable forest management and reconciliation through collaborative work that creates lasting benefits for forests, communities, and partnerships across the region. Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Diploma or degree in a field related to the work of the program area and 2 years of experience related to natural resource or Indigenous Peoples relationship management.
  • Must possess at minimum a valid Class 5 B.C. Driver’s License that does not limit or restrict the ability to conduct the duties of the job.

Preference may be given to candidates with one or more of the following:

  • Experience with contract management.
  • Experience or education in forestry or natural resource management.
  • Experience or education related to Indigenous Peoples relationship management.
  • Experience conducting research and analysis related to land use, resource management, social or economic development issues.

Provisos /Willingness statements

  • Must be willing and able to travel to meet job requirements.
  • Must be willing to work extended hours with limited notice, including evenings and weekends.
  • Must be willing and able to travel in fixed and/or rotary winged aircraft and/or watercraft.

About this Position:
This position can be based out of any of the locations listed above.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 2 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies in the BC Timber Sales Chinook Business Area
A Criminal Record Check (CRC) will be required.
