Description

The Team:
The Emergency Management Unit (EMU) is a small, collaborative team of six positions that leads and coordinates the Ministry’s emergency management program. The team works across the organization and with external partners to strengthen emergency planning, business continuity, preparedness, response coordination, and continuous improvement. EMU develops the policies, procedures, tools, and resources that help the Ministry prepare for and respond to emergencies while maintaining critical services for children, youth, and families. The team collaborates with ministry executives, program areas, other ministries, local governments, and emergency management partners to support informed and coordinated decision-making during emergencies. As an established and evolving unit, EMU offers a supportive environment where team members can make meaningful contributions, bring forward new ideas, and help shape the future of the Ministry’s emergency management program.

The Role:
The Emergency Management Analyst leads projects and initiatives that support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Ministry’s Emergency Management Program. The role conducts research and analysis, develops policies, plans, and recommendations, and collaborates with partners across the Ministry to strengthen emergency preparedness, response, and recovery capabilities. This position contributes to maintaining critical services for children, youth, and families by supporting effective planning, training, exercises, and continuous improvement activities. It offers a unique opportunity to work on both strategic program development and real-world emergency response, providing broad experience and meaningful public service impact. The role may also participate in after-hours emergency response activities, offering valuable hands-on experience during significant events

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Master’s degree and six (6) months of related experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree and one (1) year of related experience; OR
  • Diploma and two (2) years related experience; OR
  • Certificate or coursework and three (3) years related experience; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Related Experience must include all of the following:

  • Experience managing projects and/or project components.
  • Experience directing the work of staff and/or contracted resources.

Preferences may be given to applicants with the following:

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Designation within 6 months of commencement of position preferred.
  • Certified associate in project management (CAPM) certification preferred.
  • Experience with Risk Management and Crisis Management (ICS/BCEMS) principles and practices.

Willingness statements

  • May be required to work on-call and extended hours during emergency incidents and exercises.

There is one (1) full time permanent position available.
This position can be based out of any of the location(s) listed above.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work from home a few days a week subject to an approved telework agreement.
