Description

The Team
The employer health tax (EHT) is an annual tax on an employer's B.C. remuneration paid to employees and former employees in a calendar year. The EHT audit team, which currently consists of 3 supervisors, 11 auditors and 2 audit analysts, is responsible for ensuring taxpayers are compliant with the EHT Act. As a Senior Tax auditor you will be responsible for conducting complex EHT audits of taxpayers across a variety of sectors.

The Role
The position is responsible for conducting audits and other compliance initiatives under, and supporting administration of, one or more branch programs, in accordance with current legislation and branch standards, on taxpayers with a focus on complex operations and/or large businesses.  This position is responsible for reporting on audit findings and establishing evidence supporting offences under various tax statutes administered by the branch, to optimize tax revenue to the province.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Must be a member in good standing with a professional accounting designation (CPA, CA; CPA, CGA; CPA, CMA; or CPA), issued by The Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada AND
    • Note: If your designation was obtained from outside of Canada, you will need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through an applicable Canadian Accounting Association.
  • Five years audit and/or accounting experience, including a minimum of two years audit experience. 

Preference may be given to applicants with:

  • Those with additional years of auditing experience.
  • Experience working with a wide variety of stakeholders.
  • Tax administration experience.
  • Experience administering provincial tax programs.
  • Advanced MS Excel skills, and/or experience with ACL, IDEA, etc. 

Provisos

  • Must be willing and able to maintain a valid class 5 driver’s license.
  • Must be willing and able to maintain a valid passport.
  • Willingness to conduct field work which may include travel within and outside of the province or the country.
