The Team
The Skeena Stikine and Coast Districts Tenures and Authorizations Team is an established, collaborative team that works closely with partners across the region to provide authorizations support that helps maintain the flow of fibre and supports key forestry and economic development projects. Team members work alongside colleagues in GIS, First Nations, Administrative, and Stewardship areas, creating opportunities to build strong relationships, learn from diverse perspectives, and contribute to meaningful work across the Skeena Region. The Role
This role plays an important part in supporting clients by providing guidance on application requirements, timelines, and processes, helping them navigate authorizations with confidence and clarity. Working closely with clients and partners, you will deliver training, answer questions, and provide decision support to District managers on a wide range of tenuring activities that support communities, industry, and sustainable resource management. Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

• Registered, or immediately eligible for registration, as a Registered Professional Forester (RPF) with Forest Professionals BC (FPBC). Note: immediately eligible for registration is defined as being able to transfer a current membership from an applicable jurisdiction to FPBC within six (6) months of employment. Under implementation of this position at the LSO 1A level may be considered, provided an applicant is registered with FPBC and is actively in-training (FIT, ASFIT) at the time of the offer of employment and can achieve their full RPF designation within two (2) years of their start date. Confirmation of registration/eligibility is required before an offer of employment can be made.
• Degree in the natural resource field or equivalent as recognized by the relevant association.
• Demonstrated increasing experience working in natural resource management.
• Experience performing professional duties and working with key statutes that support natural resource management.
• Experience in consulting, negotiating and resolving conflicts with partners/stakeholders in natural resource management.

Preference may be given to those with one (1) or more of the following:

• Experience in supervising, leading, coaching and mentoring staff.
• Experience in engaging resource partners/stakeholders, bringing these groups together to work towards common goals.
• Experience in reviewing Cutting Permit and Road Permit applications and preparing associated Briefing Notes for the Authorized Decision Maker, as well as knowledge of Ministry of Forests commercial timber management strategy and policies/legislation for fibre utilization.
• Experience with geospatial analysis and data.

About this Position:
Three (3) positions available. One (1) permanent position and two (2) temporary opportunities (One is until March 2028, and the other is until September 2027). These positions may be extended or become permanent.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work 2 or more days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
Applicants who do not fully meet the required qualifications may be considered for this position, but at a lower classification.
Depending on the successful candidate’s location, a bi-weekly isolation allowance may apply.
