Description

The Team
As a member of the Vancouver Coastal Service Delivery Division Leadership Team, this position provides strategic leadership for Children and Youth with Support Needs (CYSN) and Early Years services across the service delivery area. Working closely with team leaders, office managers, ministry executives, and community partners, the team supports the delivery of coordinated services that help children, youth, and families access the programs and supports they need to thrive.

The Role
The Director of Operations, CYSN & Early Years leads the delivery and operational oversight of services that support children, youth, and families, including community partnerships, contract management, fiscal oversight, and complex case support. This influential leadership opportunity offers the chance to drive service excellence, strengthen community relationships, and make a meaningful difference in the lives of vulnerable children and families throughout the Vancouver Coastal Service Delivery Area.


Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or Child and Youth Care, or Master's degree in Clinical Psychology, Educational Counselling Psychology, Social Work, or equivalent.

NOTE: If your degree was obtained outside of Canada, you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services (ICES). You must request a comprehensive report and the MCFD supplemental report to be considered for this competition.

Related Experience may include

  • Experience in a supervisory/management position.
  • Experience in program and service delivery planning and evaluation.


Preference may be given to candidates who: 

  • Have 5 or more years of leadership experience
  • Have 3 or more months of Director of Operations experience
  • Experience providing direct service delivery in the areas of CYSN and Early Years
  • Experience in contract management of early years and /or social service contracts


Willingness statements or provisos

  • Must possess and maintain a valid BC class 5 Driver’s licence.  NOTE: if you currently have a valid BC (full) class 5 driver's licence in Canada and if you are the successful applicant you must acquire a valid class 5 BC driver's licence immediately.
  • May be required to work evenings/weekends on occasion and as operationally required.
  • Exposure to regular travel in remote locations.
  • May be required to use own vehicle on an expense account basis.
  • Must be willing to travel periodically for provincial meetings.


Other Requirements

  • Opportunity to work with families facing challenges which may occasionally involve exposure to unpleasant dealings with angry, abusive, or abused clients; exposure to hazards from frequently working around volatile parents and/or children in crisis.

About this Position:
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 3 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
