Description

The Team:
The Procurement and Financial Operations team is an established group of 12 dedicated, knowledgeable, and experienced professionals who provide critical financial and procurement support across the ministry and deliver corporate finance services to external partners. While this position operates independently and reports directly to the Senior Manager, Procurement & Financial Operations, it is closely connected to a collaborative network of colleagues and stakeholders across the organization. You will regularly work alongside the Managers of Accounting Services, Procurement and Risk, the Branch Leadership Team, and Systems and Compliance staff to support sound financial management and operational excellence. The team's work has a significant impact, helping ministry staff and external partners achieve their objectives through trusted financial advice, strong governance, and responsive service.

The Role:
This role provides an exciting opportunity to influence ministry-wide financial stewardship by supporting and improving financial processes, internal controls, and compliance with CPPM and GAAP standards. As a trusted advisor, you will provide leadership with guidance on financial matters and risk, conduct financial and non-financial reviews of ministry programs, and develop recommendations that support informed decision-making and continuous improvement. You will lead a variety of special projects, collaborate with central agencies and partners across government, and build strong relationships that foster accountability and effective service delivery. This position offers the chance to apply your expertise across a diverse range of initiatives while helping the ministry achieve its goals and objectives as part of a collaborative and highly respected team.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Professional accounting designation CPA (CMA/CGA/CA).
  • Experience developing and applying financial policies, procedures, and/or business processes.
  • Experience preparing, analyzing, and interpreting financial reports.
  • Experience working with financial management systems, internal controls, and financial operations.
  • Experience in providing advice to senior leadership to support decision-making.
  • Experience developing a variety of documents, including decision briefing notes and presentations.
