The Team

The Strategic Initiatives and Innovation team is an established, collaborative group focused on driving innovative solutions across several areas, including the Project Management Office, Research and Innovation, and Wildfire One. The team influences BC Wildfire Service’s direction through project management, external partnerships, and wildfire product development, with a strong focus on equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) in their work.

The Role

As a Product Manager, you’ll lead the development and enhancement of key Wildfire One products that support B.C.’s frontline wildfire response. Acting as the link between end users and the development team, you’ll manage product backlogs, prioritize features, and ensure products meet operational needs. This is a fast-paced, high-impact role where your work directly contributes to protecting communities and natural resources across the province while offering opportunities for innovation and meaningful challenge.

Job Requirements:

Education and Experience

• Master’s degree or higher in a computer science related field and 3 years of related experience*; OR
• Bachelor’s degree in a computer science related field and 4 years of related experience*; OR
• Diploma in a computer science related field and 5 years related experience*; OR
• Certificate or coursework in a computer science related field and 6 years related experience*; OR
• An equivalent combination of education and related experience* may be considered

*Related experience must include experience in 3 or more of the following:

• Experience using user centred design practices in the development of digital products and services
• Experience providing business analysis, IM/IT project management and systems planning for high-risk projects, including management of financial and human resources.
• Experience leading the development of business plans, contract management, financial management and stakeholder engagement.
• Experience using abilities to challenge and remove any unnecessary barriers to product delivery.
• Experience leading change management initiatives across a large organization.
• Experience supervising and leading technical staff.

Preference may be given to applicants with:

• Experience working in an agile team.
• Experience working in Service Design.  
• Experience working with contracted vendors.
• Training or certification in Project Managements/Agile Methodologies.
• Experience working with the BC Wildfire Service.
