Description

The Team
The Archaeology Branch Admin Crew is a diverse, collaborative, and supportive team that helps keep the Archaeology Branch running smoothly by supporting archaeological permitting, consultation processes, project coordination, records management, and administrative operations. This established team includes an Administrative Supervisor, Program Assistant, Project Coordinators, Permitting Assistant, and Branch Administrator, and works closely with archaeologists, information specialists, managers, executives, Indigenous communities, government partners, and members of the public across British Columbia.
Guided by a commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion, the team values knowledge sharing, mutual support, and the unique perspectives each team member brings. The Admin Crew plays an important role in supporting the administration of the Heritage Conservation Act, helping facilitate timely decision-making, meaningful consultation, and the protection of British Columbia’s archaeological heritage while fostering a welcoming environment where employees can learn, grow, and contribute.

The Role
As a Permitting Assistant, you will play an important role in supporting the Heritage Conservation Act permitting process by serving as one of the Archaeology Branch’s first points of contact. You will respond to inquiries from Indigenous Nations, government partners, stakeholders, and members of the public, coordinate permitting files, support branch inboxes, maintain records, and help ensure permit applications and correspondence move efficiently through the review process.

This is a rewarding opportunity to contribute to the protection of British Columbia’s archaeological and cultural heritage while working in a collaborative and inclusive environment that values diverse perspectives and respectful relationships.
