Description

The Team
Internal Audit and Advisory Services (IAAS) provides independent assurance and advice to support effective financial management, governance, accountability, and performance across the BC Public Service. The team works with ministries, Crown corporations, boards, and commissions to assess business processes, risks, and controls. Guided by corporate risk assessments and annual audit plans, the branch helps support sound decision-making and oversight. The Financial Risk and Controls Review (FRCR) team focuses on reviewing new or significantly changed financial systems to identify and assess financial risks and controls.

The Role
As a member of the FRCR team, The Auditor primarily conducts Financial Risk and Control Reviews of new or significantly modified financial systems. The position will review information, conduct research and analysis, meet with partners, and help prepare reports and recommendations. When operational needs allow, the Auditor may also contribute to audits, reviews, and advisory engagements across government organizations. 

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Completion of a recognized Canadian accounting designation or equivalency, and/or
  • Other relevant education, including MPA, MBA, CIA or CISA.
  • Preference may be given to applicants with CPA and/or CISA designations.

Experience:

  • Minimum of one year of recent related experience in audit/advisory, and/or experience in IM/IT.
  • Preference may be given to applicants with a minimum of one year of experience in internal or performance audit, and/or advisory services focused on IM/IT.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Proviso:

  • Occasional travel outside the Victoria area is a requirement of this position.

Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 4 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
