The Team
The Capital & Corporate Finance team is a collaborative and strategic group that supports financial planning, reporting, and oversight for major capital investments across British Columbia. As part of a newer ministry, team members have the opportunity to help shape evolving processes and contribute to high-profile projects that support learners, communities, and government priorities throughout the province.
Working closely with senior ministry leadership, post-secondary institutions, Treasury Board staff, and government partners, the team provides trusted financial advice and promotes strong stewardship of public funds. The Role
In this role, you will provide financial management leadership for the Ministry’s post-secondary capital programs by overseeing forecasting, budgeting, cash flow management, financial analysis, monitoring, and reporting for the Ministry's post-secondary sector capital plan. You will also serve as a trusted advisor, providing strategic financial guidance and recommendations to support informed decision-making and effective stewardship of public investments.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Professional accounting designation (CPA-CA, CPA-CGA, CPA-CMA); AND
- A minimum of three (3) years of related experience*.
A minimum of three (3) years related experience* must include:
- Overseeing budgeting and forecasting, financial management, contracting, and financial policy functions of a large organization.
- Conducting strategic corporate planning.
- Managing complex projects, business/performance planning, and goal setting.
- Developing and managing relationships with interest holders to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.
- Leading and resolving staff issues, including developing and evaluating performance goals, coaching, team building, and mentoring.
- Using databases and Microsoft Office, with particular expertise using MS Excel and Power BI.
Preference may be given to candidates with the required combination of education and experience and:
- Five (5) or more years of experience in all the related experiences listed above.
- Experience working in capital financial management and administration, including analysis and reporting.
- Experience working with the post-secondary sector.
- Experience working in government’s financial systems and capital database including the Corporate Accounting System (CAS) and the Capital Planning Secretariat (CPS) system.
- Experience leading the development and continuous enhancement of data analytics, dashboards, and reporting tools utilizing Power BI, Excel, and other business intelligence platforms.

Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 5 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
