The Team
The South Coast Region Land Authorizations team is a well-established group of about 20 land specialists who work closely with senior staff, Land Officers, First Nations Relations Advisors, biologists, and other partners. Together, the team supports sustainable land decisions and values diverse perspectives, respectful collaboration, and an inclusive workplace where everyone can contribute.
The Role
As the Licensed Authorizations Specialist, you will contribute to land authorization work that supports responsible and sustainable decisions for communities, citizens, and clients. You’ll work with a range of colleagues and partners, bringing your knowledge and perspective to meaningful work while helping create a respectful, inclusive, and accessible experience for the people you serve.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in a natural resource field, geography, urban land economics, real estate law, planning or related field or equivalent as recognized by the relevant association and one (1) year of related experience.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Valid BC driver’s licence or equivalent.
Professional Registration and Certification Requirements
- Registered, or immediately eligible (within 6 months) for registration, with the British Columbia professional association as required by the specialty area. (e.g., Association of Forest Professionals, Institute of Agrologists, Association of Professional Engineers & Geoscientists).
- Note: “Immediately eligible for registration” means meeting all requirements for full professional registration and completing the registration process with the relevant BC professional association within six (6) months of employment.
Related Experience must include
- Experience performing technical duties that support land or natural resource management.
- Experience in consulting, negotiating and resolving conflicts with stakeholders in land or natural resource management.
Preference may be given to applicants with the following
- Experience performing technical duties and working with the Land Act and/or other statutes that support natural resource management.
- Experience with contract and/ or file administration.
- Experience in managing/ leading multiple moderate to large scope resource projects, and experience being involved on multi-agency resource projects.
- Experience in First Nation engagement and consultation.
- Two (2) or more years of related experience.
Willingness statements
- Willingness to conduct field work which may include travel to remote areas by vehicle, boat, air or foot, overnight or extended stay in rough camp conditions and outdoor work in all weather conditions.
Provisos
- Must be physically able to carry equipment and supplies in difficult terrain.
- May be required to operate field equipment (i.e., quad, snowmobile).

This position can be based out of any of the location(s) listed above.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 2 or more days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
