The Team
The Land Use Planning and Cumulative Effects (LUPCE) – Cariboo Region team is a newer unit formed through the 2025 WLRS re‑organization. Its members bring years of shared experience working together across the region. This small team of nine positions includes land and resource coordinators, a cumulative effects specialist, land and resource specialists, and leadership roles that support both strategic and operational work. Team members collaborate closely with First Nations, industry partners, natural resource professionals, and community stakeholders to support planning, cumulative effects assessment, and responsible stewardship. Their work has a meaningful impact on the Cariboo by strengthening relationships, advancing reconciliation, and applying provincial tools that help create positive outcomes on the land. The team values creativity, integrity, and collaboration, and they take pride in supporting one another while delivering high‑quality, thoughtful work that makes a real difference.
The Role
This role develops practical, innovative solutions to help address complex natural resource issues in the Cariboo region, using an integrated approach that considers environmental, social, and economic perspectives. The position leads and coordinates multi‑agency project teams and works closely with First Nations, governments, industry, and other partners to move forward high‑priority stewardship initiatives. Key responsibilities include supporting collaborative stewardship, leading land and resource planning, managing cumulative effects work, supporting consultation processes, and providing legislative analysis that strengthens the region’s legal framework.
