Description

The Team
The Facilities, Fleet and Business Continuity Team is an established and supportive team that helps ensure the BC Wildfire Service has the facilities, equipment, and operational resources needed to serve communities across British Columbia. As the Facilities Coordinator, you’ll join a collaborative group of seven professionals who value diverse perspectives, knowledge sharing, and teamwork, working with colleagues and partners across the province to support safe, effective, and resilient wildfire operations.

The Role
As the Facilities Coordinator, you will coordinate projects and services that ensure BC Wildfire Service employees have safe, functional, and reliable workplaces across the province. This role offers a unique opportunity to manage a variety of initiatives, including renovations, lease renewals, and space planning, while working closely with diverse partners, stakeholders, and operational teams. Your work will have a direct impact on wildfire preparedness and response by helping create the facilities and infrastructure that employees rely on every day. Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Diploma related to facilities management or related discipline or equivalent and facilities management experience
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in facilities and construction management
  • Valid Class 5 driver's licence


Preference statement(s) 

  • Experience in Provincial Government facilities and capital planning, property management, leasing practices and security and understanding of government financial (budget, accounting) policies and procedures
  • Experience with public service core policies and procedures related to facilities management, assets, financial systems, procurement and purchasing

  • To be flexible regarding ongoing changes in responsibilities, assignments, and corporate structures
  • To keep current on emerging issues
  • To take in-house training and certification as required
  • To fly in aircraft (fixed wing and rotary) as required
  • To work extended hours, including weekends, and be on standby with limited notice in accordance with the preparedness plan
  • To travel and/or overnight in remote locations where accommodations may vary as required
  • To participate in Incident Command System positions as assigned
  • To work under adverse or stressful conditions, including smoke, extreme heat and mountainous terrain in remote and isolated conditions

About this Position:
This is a temporary opportunity until March 8, 2027. This position may be extended or become permanent.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work 3 or more days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
This position can be based in any BC Wildfire Service office.  The locations listed above are to assist applicants in searching for this opportunity and are not a complete list of locations.
