The Team

The Lillooet Fire Zone, within the Kamloops Fire Centre, is an established and highly professional group dedicated to wildfire preparedness and response. The base includes about 36 staff across Initial Attack Crews, the Seton Unit Crew, Wildfire Technicians, Wildfire Assistants, and operational support roles, led by a Crew Supervisor and supported by the Lillooet Zone office. Team members work closely together on daily operations and emergency response while maintaining strong relationships with the local community. The team is known for its professionalism, collaboration, and commitment to doing meaningful work that directly supports public safety and protection of the natural environment.

The Role

Reporting to the Wildfire Officer, the STO21 Wildfire Technician provides leadership and supervision for the Initial Attack Crew program while supporting overall base operations and wildfire management activities. The role involves supervising staff, supporting wildfire preparedness & response, assisting with fire investigations & reporting, overseeing equipment & inventory, maintaining operational readiness, and contributing to training, planning, and partner collaboration. The position offers strong opportunities to grow leadership skills within a close-knit team environment. Through visible work in local communities and active participation in emergency response, the role plays a central part in protecting people, communities, the natural environment across the region.

Qualifications

Education

• Undergraduate Degree or higher in a field related to forestry, resource management or equivalent knowledge, plus 1 year of recent (within the last 5 years) related experience*; or

• Technical diploma in a field related to forestry, resource management, or equivalent knowledge, plus 3 years of recent (within the last 5 years) related experience*; or

• Grade 12 plus 5 years of recent (within the last 5 years) related experience*; or

• An equivalent combination of education and recent (within the last 5 years) related experience* and/or training may be considered; and

*Related Experience:

• Minimum 2 years of demonstrated supervisory experience.

• Experience in wildfire operations or other disciplines related to forestry or natural resource management

• Valid Class 5 driver's licence.

Preference may be given to candidates with the following:

• Incident Commander 4 or higher.

• 4 years or more of Wildland Fire Supervision experience
