The Team
The Victoria Criminal Registry is an established and supportive team that plays a critical role in the daily operations of the Court. Our team of approximately 10 staff includes Court Clerks, Registry Clerks, Registry Technicians, Justices of the Peace, and a Criminal Administrator, all working together to support access to justice. In this role, you will collaborate closely with justice partners, members of the judiciary, and court staff while contributing to the efficient operation of B.C.'s court system. The Role
In this role, you will provide front counter court services and technical and administrative support to help ensure criminal court documents and processes are accurate, timely and accessible. You will work with the public, legal professionals and court staff to explain court procedures, review and process legal documents, and provide guidance with professionalism, fairness and respect for diverse needs and circumstances. As required, you will also exercise judicial authority as a Justice of the Peace and support the effective and inclusive delivery of court services.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Secondary School graduation or equivalent (Dogwood, GED).
- 2 years of experience working in a legal environment; or 1 year of experience working in Court Administration.
- 2 years of experience in keyboarding, data entry, word processing, standard computer applications and software programs (ex. Windows, MS Word, Excel, Outlook).
- A minimum of 4 months of experience typing Court documentation in JUSTIN.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Preference may be given to applicants with:
- Experience working in a court registry.
- Experience as a Court Clerk.

About this Position:
This is a temporary opportunity until 01/15/2027. This position may be extended or become permanent.
This position requires full-time, in-person work at the physical location listed.
