The Team
The Land Use Planning and Cumulative Effects (LUPCE) – Cariboo Regional team is a newer unit formed through the 2025 WLRS re‑organization. Its members bring years of shared experience working together across the region. This small team of nine positions includes land and resource coordinators, a cumulative effects specialist, land and resource specialists, and leadership roles that support both strategic and operational work. Team members collaborate closely with First Nations, industry partners, natural resource professionals, and community stakeholders to support planning, cumulative effects assessment, the Cariboo Regional Management Committee, and responsible stewardship. Their work has a meaningful impact on the Cariboo by strengthening relationships, advancing reconciliation, and applying provincial tools that help create positive outcomes on the land. The team values creativity, integrity, and collaboration, and they take pride in supporting one another while delivering high‑quality, thoughtful work that makes a real difference.
The Role
As a Land and Resource Coordinator, you will help develop and implement solutions to complex water, land, and resource stewardship challenges by working collaboratively with diverse teams, First Nations, stakeholders, and partners across sectors. The position gathers and interprets technical information, develops options and recommendations, coordinates projects and engagement processes, and provides support and advice to statutory decision-makers to move forward high‑priority stewardship initiatives. Key responsibilities include supporting collaborative stewardship and land use planning processes, coordinating interagency groups such as the Regional Management Committee, supporting consultation and engagement activities and providing analysis and advice related to the region’s legal framework.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in a natural resource management related field (e.g., Biology, Forestry, Geography, or Natural Resource Management) 2 years of related experience; OR
- A Technical Diploma in a natural resource management related field (e.g., Biology, Forestry, Geography, or Natural Resource Management), or an equivalent combination of education/training plus, 3 or more years’ experience working in a natural resource discipline.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- A valid B.C. driver’s licence.
Related Experience may include:
- Experience working in the natural resource sector.
- Experience managing multiple projects or a component (e.g., sub-project) of a major project or regional initiative.
- Experience working collaboratively with Indigenous groups or governments, and external partners.
- Experience facilitating groups whose members hold varying interests.
Professional Registration and Certification Requirements
- Registered, or immediately eligible for registration, as a fully licensed professional with the British Columbia professional association as required by the specialty area (i.e., Association of Forest Professionals, Institute of Agrologists, Association of Professional Engineers & Geoscientists).
Note: “Immediately eligible for registration” means meeting all requirements for full professional registration and completing the process of obtaining full registration with the relevant BC professional association within six (6) months of employment.
