The Team
The DCS Range Team is an established, close-knit team of five professionals who value collaboration, continuous learning, and supporting one another's growth. Working alongside colleagues across district programs, including corporate services, stewardship, tenures, First Nations, land and resource management, and scaling, team members contribute diverse perspectives to achieve shared goals. The Role
As a Range Agrologist, you will work collaboratively with ranchers, industry stakeholders, and First Nations to administer Grazing Licences and Grazing Leases, while monitoring rangelands to support sustainable range management and stewardship objectives. This role has a direct impact on both the ranching community and ecosystem health, helping ensure Crown range resources are managed responsibly for current and future generations. Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree (or higher) in range management, plant ecology, natural resource management science or agriculture or a related field that includes range science.
  • You must be registered, or immediately eligible for registration, as a Professional Agrologist (PAg) with the BC Institute of Agrologists (BCIA). Note: “Immediately eligible for registration” means meeting all requirements for full professional registration and completing the process of obtaining full registration with the relevant BC professional association within six (6) months of employment.

* Applicants who do not fully meet the required qualifications may be considered for this position, but at a lower classification. - Articling Agrologists will be considered if they are eligible to be designated as a Professional Agrologist within 24 months with the BC Institute of Agrologists.

Preference may be given to applicants with one of more of the following:

  • One (1) year or more of experience in range management and administration.
  • One (1) year or more of experience in the BC Livestock industry.
  • One (1) year or more of experience with invasive plant management.

About this Position:
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 2 at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and/or permanent vacancies.
