Description
The Team
The Student Support team consists of a supervisor (the Student Claims Officer), one permanent Claims Administrator and at least two additional, temporary Claims Administrators. Together, the team provides guidance and resources to students who wish to make a complaint about or who have been impacted by a closure of a private post-secondary institution. The team works closely with other areas of the System Integrity Branch in an atmosphere that values diverse perspectives, inclusivity and professional growth.
The Role
The Student Claims Officer administers student claims based on institution closure, and student complaints on the grounds a student was misled by an institution. They will also review the facts of unclear cases or special circumstances referred by staff, gather and confirm missing or contradictory information from a variety of established sources, and summarize information within the parameters of legislation and regulations governing the program. The Student Claims Officer also drafts communications pertaining to student claims.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Grade 12 graduation or equivalent.
- 4 years recent, related experience including:
- Experience reviewing and assessing documentation for compliance with policy, regulations and/or legislation.
- Experience providing client service.
Preference statement
- Preference may be given to applicants with at least one year of experience supervising staff, dispute resolution, and/or resolving customer/client issues.

This is a temporary/auxiliary opportunity until March 31, 2027. This position may be extended or become permanent.
