Description
The Team
The primary function of the District is to ensure the safe and efficient movement of goods, service and people in a given geographic area. The District administers the road and bridge maintenance agreements, snow avalanche programs, development approvals, portions of the rehabilitation program, and provides support for the capital program. The operations of each District support the growth and development of the provincial economy. District operations are a direct link between the ministry and the public/Indigenous communities/interest holders and provide a key transportation link in a multi-model environment.
The Role
The Operations Manager is responsible for managing, planning, and organizing the operational delivery of ministry programs, services, and local initiatives while ensuring the safe and efficient movement of goods, services, and people in a given geographic area.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
• Secondary School Graduation or GED and Minimum of 7 years public or private sector related experience* OR;
• Graduation from a Technical Institute in a related field of study** and a minimum of 5 years public or private sector related experience* OR;
• Graduation from a University in a related field of study** and minimum 3 years public or private sector related experience* OR;
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
• Must hold and maintain a Class 5 British Columbia Driver’s License.
**Related fields of study may include but are not limited to:
• Civil Technology, Civil Engineering, Construction, Transportation Systems and Planning, Traffic, Forestry, Resource Management, Urban or Regional Planning, or equivalent.
Related experience may include:
• Experience in the supervision of multi-disciplinary operational staff.
• Experience developing and maintaining working relationships and resolving problems with partners in natural resource management or infrastructure development.
• Public or private sector experience equivalent to a managerial, construction supervisor, field superintend, or related employment involving management and/or supervision.
• Supervision and inspection of the construction, repair or maintenance of roads, bridges, and similar structures.
Preference may be given to applicants with direct transportation related experience including road and bridge construction and/or asset management, contract management, project delivery, and emergency response.
Willingness Statements/ Provisos
• This position is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
• Willingness and ability to travel in all weather conditions and the ability to work extended hours if required.

About this Position:
This position requires full-time, in-person work and is based out of Dawson Creek.
This is a temporary opportunity until 11/01/2027. This position may be extended or become permanent.
